The Alicanto

In the heart of Chile, where the Andes Mountains meet the sky, lies a secret that has been whispered among miners for generations. A secret that speaks of a bird, unlike any other — the Alicanto. This luminescent creature is said to dwell deep within the caves and mines, lighting up the darkness with its metallic, shimmering feathers and glowing eyes.

There are two types of Alicantos — those that feed on silver, and those that dine on gold. Their diet dictates their appearance; the silver-eaters boast a silvery-blue hue, while the gold-eaters glow with a warm, golden radiance. When the Alicantos consume so much of their precious bounty, their stomachs swell, grounding them until they’ve digested their fill.
