On the morning of January 5th, 2019, a peculiar sighting was reported in the high mountain region of Mendoza, in the locality of Punta de Vacas (Department of Las Heras).

This extraordinary incident came to light thanks to the diligent efforts of Ing. Ariel Godoy, a member of the Café Ufologico de Mendoza and a collaborating associate of CEFORA (Comisión para el Estudio del Fenómeno OVNI de la República Argentina).

The primary witness in this intriguing case is Leonardo Escudero, a 43-year-old traffic control employee stationed at the Punta de Vacas weigh station. His daily responsibilities involve manning the scales that measure the weight and size of trucks traveling to and from the neighboring Republic of Chile via Highway №7.

On that fateful morning, Escudero’s colleague, 27-year-old Luciana Ibaceta, was on the road directing the flow of trucks, while he attended to his duties inside the scale office.

At approximately 10:50 am, Ibaceta radioed Escudero, her voice filled with excitement and bewilderment. “I think I’m seeing a UFO!” she exclaimed. Intrigued and skeptical, Escudero quickly stepped out of the office to investigate her claim.

As he emerged into the bright, cloudless sky, Escudero’s eyes widened in astonishment. There, hovering in the distance, was a strange, cigar-shaped object that defied explanation.

The object was a stark white color, with a length of at least 20 meters (65 feet) and a height of approximately 5 to 8 meters (16 to 26 feet). Its smooth, cylindrical surface was bereft of any discernible wings, tail, or windows — a far cry from the commercial airliners that regularly traversed this well-used flight corridor.
